Intaka Island is an award-winning 16 hectare wetlands and bird sanctuary, home to 177 species of indigenous fynbos plants and 120 bird species. See how many you can spot on this relaxing paddle through beautiful wetlands.
Intaka – which means ‘bird’ in Xhosa – is a unique example of nature conservation and urban development co-existing in harmony.
The sanctuary came to be during the development of Century City in 1996. The wetlands were largely overgrown with invasive vegetation, and have since been transformed into a nature reserve for the conservation of amazing South African wildlife.
Our SUP tour is a fun way to view this special environment and admire its many beautiful plants and animals.
