Ready to turn your love for paddleboarding into a profession?
Our SUP Instructor Program is an immersive three-day training experience designed to build confident, capable stand-up paddleboard instructors. You’ll master essential SUP skills, safety and rescue protocols, and proven teaching techniques through a balance of hands-on water time and classroom learning.

From shadowing real lessons to working through detailed instructor guides, this course gives you the practical experience and professional insight needed to step onto the water ready to teach—with confidence, credibility, and care.

Includes:

  • Equipment: All necessary SUP equipment is provided.
  • Instructor Shirt: Each participant will receive a SUP instructor shirt.
  • Lockers: Secure lockers are available to store your personal belongings during the course.
  • Changing Rooms and Showers: Access to changing rooms and showers for use during and after lessons.
  • Kitchen Facilities: A kitchen is available for participants to prepare their own meals.

Exclusions: Participants should bring their own towels, their own sun protection (sunblock, glasses and hats), and beverages (soft drinks available from us at extra cost).

Our SUP Instructor Course is a three-day, industry-focused program with a 50% theory and 50% practical training split. The course is designed to prepare confident, capable instructors ready to teach, guide, and manage clients in real-world SUP environments.

Course Modules Include:

  • Introduction to SUP – fundamentals, terminology, and best practice

  • SUP Disciplines – recreational, touring, fitness, and specialised SUP

  • Equipment & Paddle Knowledge – boards, paddles, fins, and safety gear

  • Environment & Conditions – water types, weather, wind, tides, and hazards

  • Safety & Rules of the Water – maritime rules, right of way, duty of care

  • Instructor Role & Teaching – professionalism, ethics, and lesson structure

  • Skill Development – paddling technique, balance, manoeuvring, and control

  • Group & Client Management – leading sessions and managing mixed abilities

  • Emergency Response – prevention, rescue techniques, and incident response

  • Specialised Instruction – adapting sessions for different clients and goals

  • Tour Guiding & Instruction – delivering safe, engaging guided experiences

  • Equipment Care – maintenance, storage, and longevity of gear

  • Legal & Industry Standards – liability, risk management, and best practice

  • Assessment & Certification – practical and theory-based evaluation

 

Participants who successfully complete the program will be certified as SUP instructors, ready to confidently lead and instruct stand-up paddleboarding sessions.
